WHY PONTES

The concept of Pontes was conceived for the first time in the second half of the year 1995, among students who were editing the most successful Croatian student newspaper in the 90's - Homo volans biweekly.
Experiencing a cultural and structural gap between younger and older generations, the consequences of war atrocities, and transitional anxiety present in Croatian society, we were eager to reach international experiences and benefit from this transfer of experiencing different kinds of solutions in different, yet, in many aspects, very similar countries.

More than a hundred young writers, critics and theoreticians from more than twenty European countries were guests of Pontes.
They participated in workshops, discussions, open stage shows, national presentations, concerts and performances.
Through the years, the communication among guests of Pontes developed.
The website is also a way of co-operation throughout the whole year.
